TSN KOREA | YOUnite of SALT captured the top prize in the Sustainable Impact category at the 2026 SIA World Competition, which brought together students from South Korea and Mongolia on Aug. 27.
The third edition of the competition was staged at the Korea Design Center Convention Hall in South Korea, with students from seven schools participating.
YOUnite received the 2026 SIA World Champion Award after the judges evaluated each team’s ability to move from identifying a social problem to producing a practical and sustainable response.
ATech placed second and received the 2026 Global Impact Excellence Award. Eternal Flame won the Cultural Performance and Art category, earning the 2026 SIA World Cultural Heritage Champion title.
The participating schools were SALT of South Korea and Mongolia’s Mongol Aspiration International School, Orkhon Khasu School, Orchlon International School, School No. 130, Tomunjin Alternative School and Tsonjin Cyber School.
Teams addressed a wide range of issues connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including climate change, environmental challenges, educational inequality, health, social disparities and cultural coexistence.
The Sustainable Impact Project category was judged in nine areas: problem and impact, goals, research, solution, implementation, creativity, presentation, project proposal and promotional video.
Students were also assessed on whether their ideas had been translated into action and whether their projects could generate lasting social impact. The presentations incorporated video, music, visual content, performance and storytelling.
This competition, hosted & organized by SALT and SIA, and in cooperation with the SNS Journalists Federation(Daily Union News) and IYCEF, served as a venue for international exchange where youth from different countries and schools compared project achievements and shared excellent best practices.
한국·몽골 청소년 SDGs 기반 사회문제 해결 프로젝트 경연…한국과 몽골 7개 학교 참가
SALT 소속 ‘YOUnite’ 팀이 ‘2026 SIA 월드 컴피티션(2026 SIA World Competition)’ 지속가능한 영향 부문 정상에 올랐다.
YOUnite는 지난 27일 코리아디자인센터 컨벤션홀에서 열린 제3회 대회에서 ‘2026 SIA 월드 챔피언상’을 받았다.
‘ATech’ 팀은 지속가능한 영향 부문 2위를 차지해 ‘2026 글로벌 임팩트 엑설런스상’을 수상했다. 문화공연·예술 부문에서는 ‘Eternal Flame’ 팀이 ‘2026 SIA 세계문화유산 챔피언’으로 선정됐다.
이번 대회에는 한국의 SALT를 비롯해 몽골 아스피레이션 국제학교, 오르혼 하수 학교, 오르칠론 국제학교, 제130학교, 토문진 대안학교, 촌진 사이버학교 등 한국과 몽골의 7개 학교가 참가했다.
참가팀들은 유엔 지속가능발전목표를 바탕으로 기후위기와 환경, 교육격차, 건강, 사회적 불평등, 취약계층, 문화적 다양성 등의 문제를 분석하고 해결 프로젝트를 선보였다.
지속가능한 영향 프로젝트 부문은 문제와 영향, 목표, 조사, 해결책, 실행, 창의성, 발표, 프로젝트 제안서, 홍보 영상 등 9개 영역을 평가했다.
평가는 발표 기술에만 머물지 않았다. 사회문제의 발견과 원인 조사, 목표 설정, 해결책의 현실성, 실제 실행 여부, 사회적 영향과 지속 가능성이 주요 심사 기준으로 적용됐다.
학생들은 영상과 음악, 시각자료, 퍼포먼스, 스토리텔링을 활용해 프로젝트의 진행 과정과 성과를 표현했다.
SALT와 SIA가 주최·주관하고 SNS기자연합회(데일리연합)와 IYCEF 등이 협력한 이번 대회는 서로 다른 국가와 학교의 청소년들이 프로젝트 성과를 비교하고 우수한 실천 사례를 공유하는 국제 교류의 장으로 진행됐다.
